How to deal with the electroplating of NdFeB magnets? The magnetic data of Nd-Fe-B are made by mixing, pressing and sintering the screened superfine powders of PR, Nd, Fe and B. According to the needs of the product, it can be machined into different shapes. Because the chemical properties of NdFeB are vivid and easy to be oxidized, the finished products need to be electroplated and coated. However, the quality of electroplating coating is closely related to its pretreatment. This pretreatment process generally includes degreasing, derusting and activation.
If one part of the pretreatment process is not clean, it will bring latent defects to the final electroplating products, resulting in blistering and falling off of the plating layer. Magnetic data parts with defects will lose market value and be scrapped. If the magnetic data parts with hidden defects are applied to the equipment, the whole machine fault may be caused by the unqualified parts. Even serious consequences.
NdFeB magnetic data are not as dense as those of forged metal. It belongs to microporous data. Its porous property brings many difficulties and troubles to the pretreatment of electroplating. In addition to removing the alkaline and acidic substances on the surface of the workpiece and the dirt brought by the processing process, the difficulty is how to remove the dirt in the micropores.
As for the low magnetic materials with low requirements, the pretreatment processes used in the past are: alkaline degreasing - water washing - acid washing (bleaching and neutralization) - washing - surface activation - electroplating. Although the process is simple, it has high requirements for degreaser, which requires special deoiling agent of neodymium iron boron. The formulation of this degreasing agent is complex, the variety of raw materials required is many, and the manufacturing process of users is very difficult. And once the ratio is not proper, it will be invalid and has poor practicability.
Since the advent of high-power ultrasonic cleaning machine in industrial production, this problem has been solved conveniently. The unique cavitation effect of ultrasonic cleaning can completely remove the alkaline and acidic substances remaining in the magnetic data micropores.
